Shania Brace

Shania Brace is an environmental scientist currently interning with the Warming-Induced Emissions program at Spark Climate Solutions, and an incoming M.Sc. student in Planetary Health at the University of Edinburgh (Fall 2026). She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Howard University.

Her experience spans government, nonprofit, and private sectors — from managing science communication and technical information at the EPA, to mapping cardiovascular disease prevalence as a NASA intern, to conducting field research in the Navajo Nation with the Clean Air Task Force. Through a National Geographic Society externship, she created an ArcGIS Story Map on mangrove destruction in the Guiana Shield, translating complex environmental data into accessible public narratives. Earlier in her career, she contributed to the development of an insect trait database as a student intern at the USGS National Climate Adaptation Science Center.

Shania is an early-career environmental scientist with a passion for climate and ecosystem research. She aspires to one day work at the intersection of mangrove conservation, preservation, and restoration — contributing to climate resilience in the vulnerable coastal communities that depend on these ecosystems most.
